The Foundrax Model BHD is a heavy duty radial arm Brinell hardness tester. It consists of a separate certified Brinell Test Head for applying the test forces of up to 29 420N (3000kgf), and a heavy duty frame in which it is mounted. The radial arm holds the Test Head of the machine and allows it to be manoeuvred to accurately position it for one or more tests without moving the workpiece. The arm can be moved out of the test area to allow the workpiece to be lowered onto the table by crane.

This system is extremely versatile; various alternative Test Heads are available; it may be very quickly converted for use as a portable Brinell hardness tester which still carries out the same test.

The BHD has a maximum test height of 900mm and a maximum reach of 600mm. Other sizes can be specially made.
